We may consider offering an NPC or other in-game system for gambling. Would that make us hypocritical? Of course not! Closing casinos wasn't a statement on casinos or gambling. It was a statement made and a promise kept to maintain a game world free of abuse and the exploitation of other players, to the best of our ability. If a gambling option is added to Guild Wars, it will offer a fair system from which exploitation is precluded. The decision on that is up to the designers, of course, with our thanks for the valuable suggestions and the valid reports offered on this whole subject.
The above quote is taken from the Gamblers (casinos) = banned thread with bold lettering to highlight an important statement. Im not a gambler, and I was througly SICK of the player run casinos in game, however, i'm already almost more sick of hearing the opposing side get upset about it.

SO this thread is for you (the opposing side) to start coming up with ideas for the above mentioned possibility. Start telling a.net what kind of in game NPC based gambling you want. Brain storm and give them some ideas. Even if you have none, post your support and start giving some constructive criticism on ideas that are posted here. Arguing against the decision isnt going to get you anywhere, so its time for you to start working with them. I dont have any suggestions, being a non~gambler, but I havent seen anyone else take the inititive yet so I figured i'd give you a starting place so to speak. A.nets already aware that there's plenty of you out there that want to spend your gold in such a way, so start brainstorming and give them some ideas.

Holy wowza ! I hope they do add it, i myself was becoming addicted to that whole gambling idea... it's a Fun thing to do with the current trade system in place... and i think i'd do it even after (if) the trade system changes... so hopefully they add something like this, cause my computer (Old hunky) only has room for one good game on it at a time, and so... im keeping guild wars On, and well... it would be cool to have some mini things like that in the game.

I have a feeling anet wants to keep its business so it can continue to sell expansions, so they probably feel the STRONG need to add things to the game... let's not get too greedy ^.^

I just love the way i feel about this company... it's trying something totaly new, and taking a chance at horribly failing without a monthly fee, considering when they want to make another game, they'll want to be known as a good company with good games... and so far, they're doing great!

LoL 7 hours 66 views and 2 replys. Were all you people out there that were actually giving decent arguments for gambling just bull ****ing us? Or were you defenders of the great money sink just upset about not being able to scam the bejesus out of decent folk anymore? 2 replys is laughable, if you want your gambling and werent just stirring up the crowd you need to post and say so. If you actually MENT what you were saying about how people should be given the choice to gamble if they want to, how its unfair blah blah blah get off your duff and post.

If this thread sinks again, your loss. I wont keep bumping it, this is your "one free shot" so to speak. Ideas for NPC based gambling. Go. If you want to waste your gold on gambling your getting your chance to say so here. A.net reads these forums, tell 'em what you want.

If they could implement 1 on 1 fights and betting on these 1 on 1 fights...i think i would have to find everyone responsible for this and express my gratitude. That would probably be the best feature. Betting on guild fights would also be amazing... I definatly think this should be done. The game would be INSANELY exciting. Kinda reminds me of the morrowind mod a friend of mine tryed to make. But his lack of modding experience left the fans of this idea empty handed.

Too see it in this game would definatly draw a croud.

Although I was completely against PC generated Casinos in-game and on this forum, I will speak up for those who are choosing to remain silent. ANet should make talking to the Casino NPC seem like privilege, so they should only be in the large towns and there not be many of them. Possibilities for cities with them include:
- Pre-Searing Ascalon with limited features, payout, and maximum bid.
- Post-Searing Asclaon with extended features, payout, and maximum bid.
- Lion's Arch with near complete features... etc.
- Amnoon Oasis or Droknar's Forge with complete features... etc.
These locations would allow Low levels being introduced to the game, more experienced low new players, mid-range players, and close to complete or finished PvE players to gamble as they feel they should.

On the other side of the coin, I would like the gambling text and instances of gambling to be restricted to those currently in the "gambling mode" or whatever it may be called when you speak to this Gambling NPC. The menu resulting from speaking with this NPC would keep all of the text associated with the gambling to the specific player(s) that initiated the gambling. This would clear the massive clutter that could happen if legalized gambling was implemented.

Of the possible games that could be gambled upon, these are a few that might interest a general gaming population:
- Dice (games of 6, 10, 20, 50, and 100 sides would be nice)
- A type of guessing game (maybe like keep your eye on the one with the marble or something more near lore for the game?)
- A Paper, Rock, Scissors type game (something closer to lore? or with more options to complicate it so it requires you to think?)

Other things of this sort may be suggested, which is good, but those that include betting on guilds or fights are not very good ones because this may lead to many things that are commonly associated with the darker side of gambling on sporting events like boxing and football: teams throwing fights because a bunch of people bet on them but they and/or their friends bet on the opposing team; that could get into a really ugly business if the gambling were allowed to become that big. For right now, in the interests of most players, keep gambling an optional, small, inconsequential thing, if at all.
